Club baseball finishes as national runner-up
The Warhawk club baseball team finished second overall in the Division I National Club Baseball Association World Series. To earn their spot in the national championship, UW-Whitewater (ranked 8th) defeated No. 1 Utah State, No. 5 and defending champion Florida State, and No. 7 Virginia Tech. They fell to No. 2 Penn State in the final by a score of 6-3. Congrats on a great season, Warhawks!

Campus to host Special Olympics June 8-10
More than 1,800 Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes and coaches will gather on campus to compete in the 2023 State Summer Games. The event is scheduled to take place June 8-10 and will include competitions in powerlifting, gymnastics, track and field, tennis, soccer and cornhole.

Kudos to Hamid Vakilzadeh, assistant professor of accounting, who co-authored a paper titled “Can Artificial Intelligence Pass Accounting Certification Exams? ChatGPT: CPA, CMA, CIA, and EA?” The research work was also featured in Accounting Today, a popular CPA magazine, as well as Bloomberg. Read more »
Kudos to Monica E. Lineberger, assistant professor of politics, government, and law, who is the 2023 recipient of the Service Award for the Law and Courts section of the American Political Science Association. She and two colleagues were recipients of an NSF grant that included mentoring and networking for BIPOC faculty and graduate students in law and courts.
Kudos to Jo Ann Oravec, professor of information technology and supply chain management, who had an article accepted in the peer-reviewed Journal of Interactive Learning Research (JILR). The paper is titled "Artificial Intelligence Implications for Academic Cheating: Expanding the Dimensions of Responsible Human-AI Collaboration with ChatGPT and Bard."
Kudos to Matthew Onstad assistant professor, of music who performed a solo piece of trumpet music with the Middleton Community Orchestra in the Hamel Music Center in Madison on April 24. Coach Pat Miller and the Warhawk men’s basketball team rallied to the Final Four after Derek Gray's death; their ability to respond in tough situations carried them through the tournament. Miller has had 21 seasons as UW-Whitewater’s head coach, featuring a 409-159 career record with two NCAA Division III national titles and prior to that, he spent eight seasons as an assistant to Dave Vander Meulen at Whitewater. "World of Warhol" at Roberta's Art Gallery
Roberta's Art Gallery, located in the University Center, is thrilled to announce that the "World of Warhol" exhibit is now open! This exhibit features original Andy Warhol prints from the 1960s to the 1980s, and over 100 original Andy Warhol polaroids and photographs. The exhibit will be on display until June 27.
