Recruitment Information

Recruitment is most commonly used by chapters in the Interfraternity Council (IFC) and Panhellenic Council (PHC). Recruitment may include structured opportunities, such as formal or primary recruitment, as well as informal opportunities throughout the academic year. These processes give students a chance to learn about different chapters, meet current members, ask questions, and explore where they may feel a sense of connection and belonging.

  • Membership intake is most commonly used by organizations in the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) and Intercultural Greek Council (IGC). Intake timelines and processes are determined by each individual organization and may occur at different points throughout the year.
  •  Students interested in joining an NPHC or IGC organization are encouraged to take time to learn about each organization’s history, values, service, national programs, and membership expectations before expressing interest. Students can do this by visiting the organization’s national website, reviewing chapter information, attending campus programs, and connecting respectfully with current members when appropriate.

No matter which council or organization you are interested in, joining a fraternity or sorority, or Greek-letter society is an opportunity to build community, develop leadership skills, engage in service, and contribute to the UW-Whitewater campus experience.
