Community Service

A goal of UC Student Activities & Involvement is to connect students to community service opportunities. Students looking for community service opportunities have a variety of options available.

Make a Difference Day

Find Service Opportunities

We have gathered resources to help you in finding ways to complete service hours. There are multiple opportunities available in Whitewater and the surrounding area. Complete service includes a variety of causes, so find one that interests you!

Contact the Service Intern

We are currently working on a new form that can be filled out with your interests in community service. Until the form is complete, you can email the Service Intern directly regarding your community service interests. The Service Intern will use this information to assist you in finding opportunities that interest you or that you have access to!

VolunteerMatch

VolunteerMatch is a great way to find service opportunities in specific locations! You can create a free account or sign in using Google, Facebook, or LinkedIn and find the opportunity to volunteer that works best for you.

  • Enter in preferred location - the search will bring up all opportunities available within 20 miles!
  • If you need to, narrow down the results by selecting "Cause Areas" or entering keywords.
  • Select an opportunity, read through the description, and select "I Want to Help".
  • Send a message to the agency via VolunteerMatch and wait for a confirmation email.

Org Reporting Form

Student Organizations (non-Greek) use a form to report on any service or philanthropy completed in the current academic year (July 1 through June 30). This data is used for awards, recognition, and to report to campus and community leadership about student organization accomplishments.

Looking for help? While Student Activities & Involvement doesn’t serve as a placement office to match volunteers to needs, we can assist in spreading the word about service opportunities. Take advantage of any or all of the following ways in which to reach out to campus students:

Advertising Techniques

  • Identify your target audience and create content for them.
  • Contact key members of organizations that can share information with students.
  • Post on a volunteer matching site, such as VolunteerMatch.org.
  • Table in the University Center.
  • Create digital media to post via social media.
  • Focus on how the opportunity can benefit the student.
