GymHawks Classes

The GymHawk Gymnastics program is a developmental gymnastics program run by the UW-Whitewater Gymnastics Team! With state of the art facilities and a fully qualified staff, your child will be able to learn and develop his or her skills in a safe environment with excellent coaches. Note:  Homefootball games are on Saturday September 18, October 2, October 30 and November 6, 2021.  Parking passes can be purchased for these days at https://www.uww.edu/ce/homefootballparking.  Pay-by-stalls are not available during homefootball games.

December 18, 2021 is commencement.  No classes will be held on this day.

Registration Questions

Registrants will be asked the following questions in the registration.  Please have the answers prior to registering:

  • Registrant name; Address, phone, email; School; Birth Date; Gender idenity; Race/ethinicity (optional); Health insurance; Emergency contacts information; Allergies and medication; Limitations or restrictions
  • Grade; How did you hear about this event; I undertsand I need to have a Covid test weekly, I understand the refund/ cancelation policy; Accommodations/comments

We do NOT accept walk up registrations at event check-in. 


Credit Card

Your online registration and payment are always safe and secure.  We accept MasterCard and Visa credit card payments in our online registration system.  We will NOT accept credit card payments over the phone.  We will accept checks made out to "UW-Whitewater" and mailed to UW-Whitewater Camps and Conferences, 800 West Main Street, Room 2005 Roseman Hall, Whitewater WI 53190.


Confirmation Emails
Once you register, a confirmation email will be sent to your email account. Contact cesevents@uww.edu if you do not receive this confirmation email. Historically, email accounts used from sbcglobal.net, comcast.net, centurytel.net and wi.rr.com are blocked from receiving notifications from us or may end up in your spam folder. You are able to register using these accounts; however, you will not receive emails from us. Please make sure you have a working email address on file with us to be able to receive important announcements and updates about this event.

Cost Information

Classes | November 1 - December 17, 2021 (6-weeks)

No clasess November 13, the week of Thanksgiving and December 18 for Commencement.  Finals week is December 11-18.

Preschool - 3.5 to 5 year olds

The Preschool Class is designed to give your toddler a look into the world of gymnastics. This class will focus on skill development on each of the four apparatuses. Your child will learn how to run, tumble and swing in this fun class, intended for children ages 3.5 to 5 years.

  • Preschool A | Max 7 | $110 | Mondays; 4:00 - 4:45 pm 
  • Preschool D | Max 7 | $90 | Saturdays; 10:00 - 10:45 am - No class 11/13/21 or 12/18/21

Mini Hawks - 5 to 9 year olds

Mini Hawks is a class for girls interested in pursuing competitive gymnastics in the future. This class focuses on detail oriented skill work to build a strong foundation for competitive gymnastics and is open to girls aged 5-9. Pre Requisites for this class are Instructor Approval or an evaluation for admittance.

  • MiniHawks A | Max 7 | $140 | Thursdays; 4:00 - 5:00 pm 

Kindergym - 4.5 - 5 years old (has attended preschool)

The Kindergym Class is designed for the more advanced preschooler. Children must be 4.5 years old, and must have participated in at least one session of the GymHawks Preschool Class. If your child is new to the program and you think he or she belongs in the Kindergym Class, please call to set up an evaluation.

Beginner - 6 years old and up

The Beginner Class is designed for girls ages 6 years and up. This class serves as an introduction to the world of women’s gymnastics. Gymnasts will learn skills on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. This class is great for getting your child involved in the sport of women’s gymnastics. Gymnasts will work on developing strength, coordination and confidence! Completing the skills found on the Beginner Checklist will allow the gymnast to progress to the next level.

Advanced Beginner - 6 years old and up

The Advanced Beginner Class will build off of what gymnasts have learned in the Beginner Class. This class is slightly more comprehensive than the introductory level class. In this class, gymnasts will learn the importance of form and conditioning. They will also work to improve and advance their skills.

Boys Tumbling and Strength Class -  5 to 8 year old

The Boys Tumbling and Strength is offered to children ages 5 - 8 years. The class will focus on the basics of tumbling on both the floor and trampolines. The class will also spend time developing strength, balance and coordination using the different gymnastics apparatus.

  • Boys A | Max 7 | $140 | Mondays; 5:00 - 6:00 pm 
  • Boys B | Max 7 | $140 | Wednesdays; 6:00 - 7:00 pm

Tumbling 6 years old and up

This class will focus on beginner skills such as forward and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels and backbends. This is the perfect class for a new gymnast or tumbler! This class will also build off of what tumblers learned in Tumbling I. The majority of this class will be dedicated to learning the round off and the back handspring. Tumblers must be able to demonstrate all of the skills on the Tumbling I evaluation in order to progress to Tumbling II. This class is for more advanced tumblers. Tumblers in this class can demonstrate a round off-back handspring by themselves. The emphasis of this class will be on multiple back handsprings, back tucks and front tumbling.

  • Tumbling A | Max 7 | $140 | Monday; 4:00 - 5:00 pm 
  • Tumbling B | Max 7 | $140 | Wednesday; 6:00 - 7:00 pm

Intermediate Class - 6 years old and up (Instructor approval needed)

The Intermediate Class is for more advanced gymnasts. This class is focused on skill enhancement and development. Gymnasts will learn how to maintain and improve skills they already have, while making tremendous improvements on new skills. This class will be 90 minutes long and will include more strengthening and conditioning. Gymnasts in the Intermediate Class are encouraged to come twice a week.

  • Intermediate A | Max 7 | $170 | Tuesdays; 5:30 - 7:00 pm 
  • Intermediate B | Max 9 | $170 | Wednesdays; 5:30 - 7:00 pm 
  • Intermediate C | Max 9 |$140 | Saturdays; 12:00 - 1:30 pm  - No class 11/13/21 or 12/18/21

Advanced Class - 6 years old and up (Instructor approval needed)

The Advanced Class is geared towards preparing gymnasts for the rigorous schedule of pre-team. This pre-competitive class meets for 2 hours at a time and focuses on developing and fine tuning the skills that are necessary for a gymnast to progress to USAG level 4. Gymnasts must have special permission to enroll in this class.

  • Advanced A | Max 7 | $190 | Fridays; 5:30 - 7:30 pm

Payment Plans: The final step in the registration you will have two Payment Plan options.

Parent-Tot Class - 18 months to 3.5 years old

The Parent-Tot Class is offered to children ages 18 months to 3.5 years. This class will focus on developing motor skills and functional movement through fun and games. Parent participation is essential in this class to make it the best experience for your child!

High School - 14-18 year old 

The High School class is designed for gymnasts going into grades 8-12 who are interested in competing for their High School team. This is a class, not an open gym. Gymnasts will discuss goal setting for the upcoming season, and work with experienced coaches on developing the skills they hope to achieve. All abilities welcome!

Those registrants that enrolled during the register risk free time-period will be notified by email when payment is due.

All registrant accounts must be paid in full one week (7 days) prior to the start of event. Registrants with outstanding balances after payment is due in full are subject to being removed from the event roster without refund. Please contact Continuing Education Services at cesevents@uww.edu prior to this deadline if extenuating circumstances prevent you from completing a payment.

In the event of a cancellation, Continuing Education Services should be notified no later than 21 days before the start of the event session in order to receive a refund, less 20% administrative fee. Cancellation request received less than 21 days from the start of camp will receive a refund minus 50% late cancellation fee of event cost. Cancellations due to medical reasons will receive a full refund, less the 20% administrative fee, if the cancellation is requested and medical documentation is provided prior to the start of event. Valid medical cancellations must include a signed letter from a licensed physician to qualify.   NO REFUNDS will be given for withdrawal due to early departures, disciplinary reasons or no show after the event has started. 

Full refund will be given to families who need to cancel because of COVID illness.

All cancellation requests must be submitted to cesevents@uww.edu; provide registrant’s name, camp and medical documentation, if applicable. Refunds will be returned to name an address of payer.

We reserve the right to cancel any event due to low enrollment; in this case, all fees paid will be refunded.

Sponsorships & Awards Redemption
For those participants who will be receiving a sponsorship to attend this event: Register and use the promo code your sponsor gave you. The sponsorship will be deducted from your invoice.  Any remaining balance remains the participant's responsibility. Any cancellations will result in the sponsorship funds being returned to the supporting organization.

Any qualifying discounts given by the event will not be applied after you have paid in full. Be sure to use the promo code during check out to receive your discount. You will be charged if you do not qualify for requested discount at the start of event.

A processing fee will be assessed if a refund is issued due to overpayment on your account.

Arrival Information

Check In

Coaches will meet registrants by the door on the north side of building at the top of the ramp just off the roundabout in Lot 11 ask them the three COVID-19 survey questions listed in the COVID-19 Information frequently asked questions.  Parents can wait in their car or return when registrant's session is over.  Parents are not allowed in the building.  Face coverings will be required upon entering, exiting the building, using the rest room, or waiting for classes to take place.  Due to the mask mandate, in place by Governor Evers, all gymnasts will need to participate with masks on. Coaches will have the discretion to allow masks to be removed and special care will be taken to ensure athletes get breaks when needed, and maintain the utmost safety during their practices.

Parking
Parking permits are required on all vehicles parked on campus at all times, with the exception in only Lot 11 after 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Monday - Thursday and noon Fridays to 11:00 p.m. on Sundays (unless special events are being held on campus).  Permits or metered parking is available for purchase for those attending session before 3:00 pm. More information on parking is on the Visitor Center website.  

By registering for an event, you agree to our Registration Terms and Conditions. UW-Whitewater will hold all registrants responsible for their conduct.  Serious misconduct or disruption will lead to immediate dismissal from event.  Registrants dismissed from the event will not receive a refund.  Please review the Terms and Conditions for more details.

Be aware that we recommend that all portable electronic devices be left at home, but ultimately it is your decision. We know that parents and children value the ability to be able to call each other at a moment's notice.  For that reason, we do not prohibit cell phones at camp, but ask that cell phone use does not interfere with the event and other participants.  Parents are responsible for setting clear guidelines for cell use with their child.  We will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Insurance

Registrants are encouraged to have their own health insurance as accident insurance provided by the University is limited. Each registrant will be covered by a limited accident insurance policy. The insurance includes primary coverage up to $10,000. Insurance does not cover pre-existing injuries and is for accidents only. The cost of insurance is included in the registration fee.

Note:  Guardians are still not allowed in the gymnasium due to COVID-19 protocals.

Makeup Classes

Makeup classes will be limited to one make up class, per student, per session with the exception of illness.  Contact gymhawks@uww.edu if you need to schedule a makeup session.

Gymnastics Gymnasium

This gym was renovated in 2011 to meet NCAA standards, making it one of the best Division III facilities in the Midwest. The gym has new floor exercise equipment, six Elite balance beams, two TAC/10 LZT vaults, a Resilite pit for vaulting, another Resilite pit for tumbling and a third pit with loose foam for uneven bars training. The gymnastics gym also has a strap bar, a channel bar system, two trampolines, tumble track and two spotting rigs. Practice facilities for the team include the dance studio in Williams Center.
