Virtual Voice Academy

The UW-Whitewater Voice Academy offers individual online voice lessons to students of all experience levels, ages 12 and older. Lessons are taught by members of the UW-Whitewater voice faculty and advanced UW-Whitewater voice students.

Participants receive 10, 30-minute lessons. High school juniors, seniors, and adult students may enroll in 50-minute lessons, if desired. Weekly lessons will be scheduled at mutually agreeable times.

PLEASE NOTE:  Lessons are taught virtually. Lessons are subject to instructor availability.

  • Fall: September - December, 2020 - Closed
  • Spring: January - May, 2021

30-minute lessons: $290 for 10 private lessons

50-minute lessons: $430 for 10 private lessons

Note: Upon receipt of your registration, the Coordinator will contact you to set up private lesson times.


Fees Include

Private lesson fee includes 10 lessons and instruction. 

Refunds

There are no refunds after payment, with exceptions for medical issues subject to consideration by the director.

Missed Lesson Policy

Students must notify the Coordinator at least 24 hours in advance if they are unable to attend their scheduled meeting time. Lessons will then be rescheduled within a week as agreed upon by both the instructor and student.  Missed lessons without prior notice (“no shows”), or cancellations within 24-hours of the lesson may not be rescheduled.

Required Materials

Students are responsible for purchasing music books or other materials for study as required by the instructor.

Received an Award, Sponsorship or Discount?

For those participants who will be receiving a sponsorship to attend this event: Register and use the promo code your sponsor gave you. The sponsorship will be deducted from your invoice.  Any remaining balance remains the participant's responsibility. Any cancellations will result in the sponsorship funds being returned to the supporting organization.

Any qualifying discounts given by the event will not be applied after you have paid in full. Be sure to use the promo code at check out to receive your discount. You will be charged if you do not qualify for requested discount at the start of event.

A processing fee will be assessed if a refund is issued due to overpayment on your account.

Want to Sponsor a Registrant?

You can sponsor a registrant and cover all or partial fees. We have received requests in the past from schools, companies, organizations, friends and family members that would like to send their chosen registrant to a specific event. If you would like to sponsor a registrant, you can request a promo code that you may give to your chosen registrant. Click here for more details.

Confirmation Emails

Once you register a confirmation email will be sent to your email account. Contact cesevents@uww.edu if you do not receive this confirmation email. Historically email accounts used from centurytel.net, SBC Global and wi.rr.com are blocked from receiving  notifications from us or may end up in your spam folder. You are able to register using these accounts; however, you will not receive emails from us. Please make sure you have a working email address on file with us to be able to receive important announcements and updates about this event.

Rachel Wood, Director

Rachel Wood

Mezzo-soprano Rachel Wood is the Voice Area Coordinator at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where she teaches studio voice, lyric diction, song literature, and vocal pedagogy. Dr. Wood has appeared in opera, concert, and recital performances across Canada, the United States, Italy and the Netherlands.


J. Adam Shelton

Adam Shelton

Dr. Shelton teaches private lessons to majors and non-majors at UW-Whitewater. He has worked with Des Moines Metro Opera, Madison Opera, Music Theatre of Madison, Four Seasons Theatre, Madison Savoyards, Opera for the Young, Knoxville Opera, and many others.

Insurance

Registrants are encouraged to have their own health insurance as accident insurance provided by the University is limited. Each registrant will be covered by a limited accident insurance policy. The insurance includes primary coverage up to $10,000. Insurance does not cover pre-existing injuries and is for accidents only. The cost of insurance is included in the registration fee.
