UW-Whitewater Piano Academy

The Piano Academy is a program for beginners to advanced students.  Weekly instruction is offered at all levels and will receive 12 weekly lessons per semester.  Private lessons will be offered to all levels of students ages 6 and up, pending availability of instructors.

Student Rate: $236

Faculty Rate: $336 

Prorated lesson costs due to late registration must be approved by the director.

Fees Include

The fee includes 12 private lessons, instruction and insurance.  

Note: Upon receipt of your registration, the Coordinator will contact you to set up private lesson times.

Refunds

There are no refunds after payment, with exceptions for medical issues subject to considereation by the director.

Parking

Parking permits are required on all vehicles parked on campus at all times, with the exception of 5 p.m. Fridays to 11:00 p.m. Sundays. Vehicles arriving after Parking Services office hours may purchase a parking permit from the vending machine located behind the Visitor Center in the service drive.   Membership permits are available for purchase.  More information on parking is on the Visitor Center website.

Be aware that we advise you to leave all non-essential, portable electronic devices at home (iPod, Fitbit, cell phones, etc), but ultimately it is your decision. We will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items and we do not have open Wi-Fi for electronic devices.

Lessons will be arranged by the coordinator upon receipt of your registration. Please contact the coordinator directly if you have had previous piano instruction.

Karen Boe: UW-WHITEWATER PHOTO/CRAIG SCHREINER

Karen Boe was a William Petschek Scholarship student and teaching fellow in piano at the Juilliard School where she received her Master and Bachelor of Music degrees. While completing her doctoral degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under Howard Karp, she also served as a member of the piano faculty. Her previous teachers include William Masselos, Leonard Shure, Sophia Rosoff and Aube Tzerko. Ms. Boe has performed extensively, with concert performances in Alice Tully Hall and the Juilliard Theatre in New York, the Villa Terrace Museum in Milwaukee, guest recitals at Northwestern University, Luther College, Illinois-Wesleyan College, and Oberlin College, and numerous concerts in Spain and France. She joined the piano faculty of UW-Whitewater in 2003.

Insurance

Registrants are encouraged to have their own health insurance as accident insurance provided by the University is limited. Each registrant will be covered by a limited accident insurance policy. The insurance includes primary coverage up to $10,000. Insurance does not cover pre-existing injuries and is for accidents only. The cost of insurance is included in the registration fee.
