Any fees can be paid with cash, credit/debit card, or check at the clinic, or billed to your student account. Anything billed to your student account will be identified as “Misc Health Service fees” only. For those that need a receipt, please inquire at the Health Clinic front desk.
Medications can be filled at our low-cost, in-clinic dispensary at very low cost or sent to a pharmacy to be filled if desired. The Wisconsin Family Planning Waiver covers reproductive care and contraceptives for most students at no cost – ask health staff for details.
Students enrolled in both spring and fall can use services over the summer for a one-time $40 fee covering health and counseling. If you’re enrolled in summer classes, the fee is waived.
When students do not keep their appointments, this delays other students from being seen. To ensure timely services at the lowest cost to students, late cancellations and no-show appointments will result in a fee. This is explained at the time of making the appointment as well as reminders are sent out. UHCS allows cancellation of an appointment up to 2 hours BEFORE that appointment. Fees charged are $15 for Health and Counseling appointments and $40 for Psychiatry appointments.
UHCS does not bill or accept health insurance. Most UHCS visits are provided at no cost because services are supported by student segregated fees. While insurance is not required for UHCS services, students may choose to carry health insurance for care received outside of UHCS, including specialty care, emergency services, or off-campus providers.
- There is no cost for counseling services, wellness programs, or healthcare provider visits.
- Fees apply for lab tests, medications, some procedures, and physicals (available at a reasonable cost).
- Off-campus referrals (e.g. x-ray, ER visits, hospitalization) may be charged by external providers.
- Fees are charged to the student bill: UHCS does not bill insurance but provides receipts for reimbursement upon request.
- Marketplace Open Enrollment: November 1 - January 31 (exemptions for qualifying life events).
- Consider coverage needs, including out-of-area benefits, deductibles and coinsurance costs before selecting a plan.
- Visit Healthcare.gov for plan options, tax credit eligibility and enrollment details.
