University Committees

Faculty External Affairs and Outreach Committee

 

FUNCTION

This committee builds from a function described in UWW’s Faculty Constitution (Article VI, Section 1, bullet point 4), wherein the Faculty Senate has the responsibility to act as liaison between the faculty and the University of Wisconsin System upon matters within the limits of its competency and discretion.

The purpose of this committee is to:

  • Advocate for increased funding/support for the University
  • Advocate for the educational mission of the University and for the Wisconsin Idea
  • Advocate for shared governanc
  • Advocate for the value of UW-Whitewater to the state and region
  • Ensure that Regents know what is happening “on the ground” at UWW
  • Regularly update the Faculty Senate on important issues

This committee should facilitate regular communication with:

  • Board of Regents Members
  • State Legislators and the Governor
  • The UW System President
  • The System Faculty Reps Group
  • Community Partners (e.g., The Greater Whitewater Committee)
  • The Chancellor’s Chief-of-Staff
  • Other on-campus individuals or groups involved in advocacy
  • Faculty Senate Chair
  • Others as needed

 

MEMBERSHIP AND TERMS

Members of this committee will be annually appointed by the Faculty Senate and should consist of at least one representative from each college. Members of this committee do not need to be elected Faculty Senators.
