Thanks to everyone who participated in our MAGD Expo 2012 - more than 100 projects were exhibited at the event, for the public and our great panel of judges. Many thanks to our amazing keynotes, Neill Glancy and Matthew Rathbone, who also served as judges along with judges Cory Gwin, Jorel Dray, James Morse, Dan Norton, and MAGD and other UWW faculty and staff.

Keynote Biography
Neill Glancy has shipped over 22 games spanning five console generations, from the Sinclair Spectrum to the Playstation 3 as well as smart devices such as iPad and iPhone. In his 25 years creating games, Neill has played the part of artist, animator, sound designer, game designer, project manager and creative director. Most recently he was one of Disney's elite "Game Directors", responsible for incubating new properties and giving creative guidance to titles in development, at Junction Point Studios. Neill has given talks on state-of-the-art game development at the Game Developers Conference (GDC), was a featured guest speaker at the Milan International Film Festival, and worked directly with many of the entertainment industry's biggest brands including Mickey Mouse, Batman, South Park and legendary film director John Woo.
Neill is currently the VP - Creative Director of Fun Machine, a new social mobile company based in Austin Texas. Fun Machines latest title produced in collaboration with Whole Foods Market & Whole Kids Foundation "Awesome Eats" has been a huge hit with 500,000 downloads in its first 2 weeks alone.
Keynote Biography
Originally hailing from Nottinghamshire in the UK [robin hood country!], Matthew Rathbone is the lead data-infrastructure engineer at Foursquare Labs (http://foursquare.com) where he builds systems to manage the generation, consumption and analysis of large-scale datasets (100’s of terabytes).
Matthew has studied large-scale distributed systems at NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science, and has previously worked as a software engineer in both New York startups and London financial companies.
Matthew's MAGD Expo presentation is titled "Using game mechanics to make the real-world more fun; the use of game mechanics in foursquare and other applications".
