Please allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born into a humble family of eight; I am the third of six children. My father had a sixth grade education and my mother was slightly more fortunate, having completed the eighth grade. My first experience with post-secondary education began in 1987 at the age of 13, when I attended a residential computer camp sponsored by University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Office of PreCollege Programs. This was a defining experience in my life that instilled in me the desire to eventually go on to college. Five years later I was on the UW-Whitewater campus as a college freshman.

I eventually graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Economics, worked in the private sector, and later returned and completed an M.B.A. in Finance. Since my return to the University, I have had the privilege of working with students like myself: students who may not have come from the most affluent background but have a wealth of ambition and desire to succeed. I encourage all students to take advantage of the wonderful opportunities offered at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and develop to their fullest potential. But most importantly "always remember that your life is yours to mold as you choose" and the staff here at PreCollege is dedicated to assisting you on your journey...

Welcome to PreCollege Programs at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater!

I started at UW-Whitewater as a student majoring in psychology where I had countless rewarding educational and leadership experiences. Shortly after graduation I began working on campus full time with various offices including: Latino Student Programs, College of Business & Economics, Student Support Services, Academic Standards, Residence Life, and now, PreCollege Programs. During this time I also received my Master of Science degree in Curriculum & Instruction - Higher Education. While growing up, I was very lucky to have parents supportive of my education, but as a first generation student, I couldn't always turn to them for the help I needed navigating through college. There were many staff members at UW-Whitewater that showed me the ropes and assisted me in the rough patches. I still turn to these staff members for professional guidance and appreciate the generosity of their time and caring. I sincerely hope we can be that support system for you as you explore the world that opens up through education.

Welcome to the Office of PreCollege Programs Website. My name is Tiffany Adkins. I've had the privilege to do my undergrad here at UW-Whitewater and pursue my Master's in Educational policy and Analysis here as well. During my undergrad I participated in several student organizations on campus. I was on the Executive Board for the Black Student Union for several years in different capacities. I was the creative coordinator for T.i.F.U Cultural Ensemble, in which I was the first to serve in that position. Also I served as Vice President and Treasurer for my sorority Delta Sigma Theta. Through each of those organizations a great deal of networking came along, which ultimately lead me to PreCollege Programs. I have been working for PreCollege since 2006, as a Tutor counselor, office assistant, and Lead coordinator/ program coordinator. There is not a greater honor than it is to work with students. I look forward to assisting and working with them every year. As a first generation college student, my goal is to make sure that I am not the last college graduate and to ensure each student I come across through PreCollege takes advantage of the opportunity and transform into a successful college graduate in the years to come.

I'm Mike Wessely, and I'm excited to be in PreCollege Programs! My experience with UW-Whitewater began as a first generation undergraduate student. The college experience was a new one for my family, but they encouraged my educational goals. As a student, I worked at the University Library and found that I enjoyed the campus atmosphere and meeting so many people. I participated in several student organizations here, including the Forensics Team, Student WEA, Muse Magazine, and the English club. I completed my BSE in English Education with a minor in History Education, and was hired in Human Resources and Diversity shortly thereafter. I recently completed my Master of Science in Communication from UW-Whitewater.  I am also a notary public. I'm happy to help you have an enriching and rewarding experience in your educational pursuits.

Welcome to the PreCollege Programs at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater. My name is LaTrice Tiller and I have a continuous background with the PreCollege Programs. I had the opportunity to be connected with some awesome mentors who led me to be a participant in the Upward Bound Program in 2000 and I have been around ever since. Seeing that I am a first generation college student, I benefitted from the program in numerous ways. Being a part of PreCollege Programs, after high school graduation in 2003, I decided to come to UW-Whitewater, where I completed my Bachelor of Science in Occupational and Environmental Safety in 2009. While on campus as an undergrad, I was involved in many student organizations and held administration positions in several such as: Black Student Union, T.I.F.U. Cultural Ensemble, Gospel Choir and other organizations of that nature. I am currently a graduate student at the University and in the process of completing my Masters in Professional Development with an emphasis in Higher Education Leadership. Seeing that I have been involved with PreCollege Programs as a participant, Tutor Counselor, Team Lead Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator and now a Graduate Coordinator, I know what it is like to be on both ends of the spectrum. With this knowledge and information that I possess, I am very enthusiastic about helping students like me get to where they need to be to get in college, stay in college and complete college. Serving as a Graduate Coordinator, it helps me with my passion to give other students the information and resources that they need to go on to be a successful college student and one day a college graduate.

Hi and welcome to the PreCollege Programs at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

I was born in Thailand and came to the United States with my parents, as refugees, in 1984. When we arrived my father spoke very little English and my mother none. As the oldest child or 11 children, I always made it my responsibility to emphasize and show that education is the key to a brighter future for all my siblings. My first experience with post-secondary school was in 2000, when I joined a group called Gear Up. They took me on numerous college visits, which included, UW-Madison, UW-Milwaukee, and UW-Whitewater. It was during these visits that I realized going to college was a possibility. In the fall of 2002, I enrolled at UW-Milwaukee.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Finance and Marketing in 2007, worked for about 8 years, then decided to refocus on my educational goals. I am currently in the first year of my M.B.A. program in Information Technology and Project Management here at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I am blessed to have an opportunity to work with Mr. Ortiz and his team. Lifelong learning is my advice to the youth, and I’m so happy I get to pass that message every day here.
