The 2024 UW-Whitewater High School Jazz Festival will give High School bands the opportunity to receive written comments and a clinic from our clincians. Each band will have 30 minutes to perform and will receive written comments and a 15 minute clinic with our clinicians following their performance. This year’s clinicians will be Derrick Gardiner, an alumni of the Count Basie Orchestra, the Harry Connick Orchestra and new Director of Jazz Studies at Northwestern University, and Steve Sveum, former Director of Bands at Sun Prairie High School and Essentially Ellington Clinician.
Each band will warm up during the hour preceding their performance time. All bands are encouraged to stay and hear the other ensembles, the evening UW-Whitewater Jazz Ensemble and "trio incognito" featuring David Bixler - alto sax, Dan Loomis - bass, and Fabio Rajas - percussion.
Limited to the first 16 bands.
