Dr. Vicky Xiong-Lor

Dr. Vicky Xiong-Lor has almost 20 years experience teaching in bilingual, ESL, and heritage language settings. She also teaches in the Hmong Bilingual Authorization Program at Fresno State. In 2018, she was awarded the J.S. Shefelbine Leadership in Literacy Award for creating opportunities for the Hmong children in her community for ten summers, and in 2022 she was named California Language Teacher Association’s Teacher of the Year. She was appointed by the State Board of Education to serve as a committee member for the California Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum in 2019, and she currently serves on the Advisory Board for the California Reading & Literature Project at Fresno State, is the Co-President of the Central California Dual Language Consortium at Fresno State, and is the Lead Facilitator for the Hmong Language Strand for the Central California World Language Project (CCWLP). Together with Hmong teachers from California, Minnesota, & Wisconsin Vicky has been part of creating and writing Hmong literacy, language and cultural standards and creating Hmong Ethnic Studies scope and sequences, materials, and professional development.
