THE RICHARD AND VERONICA TELFER ENDOWED FACULTY FELLOWSHIP
Established in 2015, the Richard and Veronica Telfer Endowed Faculty Fellowship recognizes a faculty member in the College of Education and Professional Studies who has made, or has significant potential to make, a distinguished and significant impact to their profession. Once selected, the recipient of the fellowship may renew the award, which includes a base salary adjustment and small budget to support their fellowship work, for up to three years.
In the 2023 award cycle, the Telfers generously provided a second award, the Telfer Incentive, that was awarded to an applicant who did not receive the fellowship, but one who the Telfers and the dean felt was doing work deserving of support.

Tia Schultz
Professor of Special Education Telfer Incentive 2020-2023
“My Telfer work has been focused on expanding my training in the area of social emotional learning and mental health and expanding partnerships in order to better prepare my students for supporting the social emotional learning and mental health of their students in K-12 settings.”
Elizabeth Blair
Associate Professor of Educational Foundations Telfer Fellow 2023-2026
“Our findings suggest that teachers who collaborate well and believe in their abilities to solve problems and to adapt to challenges have higher well-being over time, so in my teaching I have shifted to emphasize the importance of flexibility and reflection to solve the everyday challenges of teaching.”
Jennifer Betters-Bubon
Professor of Counselor Education Telfer Fellow 2020-2023
“I was able to engage in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NME), a brain-based model for understanding the impact of trauma, based on the timing of trauma. (Soon) I will be able to offer a course at UWW for future educators directly teaching this model.”
