DEPARTMENT OF LEADERSHIP, MILITARY SCIENCE AND AEROSPACE STUDIES
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Department of Leadership, Military Science and Aerospace Studies develops students to become leaders in the Army, Air Force or civilian career fields. The three paths to obtaining a minor in leadership are aligned with those career paths.
The department functions as both a curricular and co-curricular program which emphasizes experiential and collaborative learning. The leadership program provides external training and educating opportunities that build character and competencies in our students. Diversity in thought, ideas and solutions is a primary focus for our department to aid in the future leader's ability to solve complex worldly problems.
The Leadership, Military Science and Aerospace Studies Department molds quality leaders who leave the program prepared to serve as leaders in the community. Our students learn to lead from the front in today's workplace and in the military.

The Leadership and Military Science minor at UW-Whitewater promotes the development of undergraduate students in the area of small group leadership. The goal is to prepare students to serve effectively in formal and informal leadership roles. The minor reinforces understanding and application of Army Leadership strategies, critical decision-making methodologies, and physical and mental fitness excellence.
The core courses in the minor are sequences to meet the increasingly complex sets of outcomes-based instruction across cognitive, personal development, and group/organizational domains.
While we study citizenship, values, ethics, military history, human society, and management and leadership skills, you'll develop self-discipline and confidence as you gain practical leadership experience. All of these skills are valuable when applied to service in a military or civilian career.
