APPLY TO LIVE ON CAMPUS
New freshmen and transfer students
Living on campus makes it easy to meet people, get involved, and stay connected to classes, dining, campus resources, and everything UW-Whitewater has to offer.
Students new to University Housing for the 2027–28 academic year can apply online through the Housing Portal. During the application, you will review and sign the Housing and Dining Contract and indicate your housing preferences.
Before you apply
Please review the following information:
- Review the complete housing and dining contract before signing. Once electronically signed and submitted, the contract becomes legally binding.
- A $125 housing deposit is required for students new to University Housing. The deposit will be applied to your university account toward first-semester housing charges.
- If you are younger than 18 when you submit the contract, a parent or legal guardian must also provide an electronic signature.
Roommate matching
After submitting your 2027-28 housing and dining contract, you can participate in the roommate matching process through May 1.
If you already know who you would like to live with, search for that student and create a roommate group. If you are looking for a roommate, you can browse student profiles based on preferences such as sleep schedules, study habits, cleanliness, and other living habits.
Don’t find a roommate? That’s OK! You are not required to select your own roommate. Students who do not form a roommate group by May 1 will be matched through the housing assignment process using the preferences provided in their housing application.
Meal plan selection
First- and second-year students living in University Housing are required to have an eligible university meal plan unless an exemption has been approved.
Meal plan selection for 2027–28 is not yet available. You may complete your housing contract now; no meal-plan selection is required at this time.
Once meal plan options are finalized, you will receive information through your UW-Whitewater email account. You will have an opportunity to review the available plans and make your selection through the MyHousing Portal.
