SERVICES

University Housing strives to make students’ residence hall experiences as comfortable, clean, and accessible as possible by offering a variety of services, from our room-fee-included laundry to our bed lofting services. Explore our many services below.

Laundry

Mail and package delivery

Due to storage space and constraints, we request that students do not start sending mail or packages to their on-campus address prior to August 30, when the residence halls officially open for the academic year, unless you are an approved Early Arrival to campus.

Students should check their mailboxes — located at their residence hall front desk — daily, as our staff will not send email notifications when regular mail is received for each student.

Package pickup location depends on which postal/delivery service a package is being sent through.

  • All United States Postal Service packages will be delivered directly to the residence halls. Students will receive an email notification from their front desk when their packages are ready for pickup.
  • Packages from FedEx, UPS, Amazon, and all other delivery services will be delivered to Goodhue Hall. Students will receive an email notification from the Goodhue Front Desk once their package has been processed and is ready for pickup. This does not include Wells Hall. If you live in Wells, all of your packages will be delivered to the Wells Hall Front Desk.

Note: Some delivery services will notify recipients that their packages have been “delivered,” but this does not mean that they have been received or processed by the Goodhue front desk.

In order to ensure that your delivery arrives on-time and to the correct location, we have provided examples for your address layout. When you are sending a package or envelope via USPS, please use the following format:

Full preferred name of student (first and last name)
Room number, Residence Hall name
Residence Hall street address
Whitewater, WI
53190

All packages that are not sent via USPS, should be addressed as follows:

Goodhue Hall
790 W. Starin Rd
Whitewater, WI

Goodhue Hall front desk

Goodhue Hall is considered a home base of University Housing resources, including non-USPS package delivery, guest housing, bike locker rental, and more. It is also where the Housing main office is located.

Goodhue Hall is open Mondays through Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the first-floor front desk is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Have any questions, concerns, or feedback? You can reach us by emailing housing@uww.edu or by calling 262-472-4200.

Want to get a feel for what a typical dorm room’s dimensions are? Goodhue Hall offers a model student room located near the front desk, providing students, families and guests with an idea of the accommodations that students will receive while living in the residence halls.

Refrigerator rental (new!)

University Housing is proud to announce that we are partnering with our loft company, Bedloft, to offer our students a new service. Students can now rent an EcoMax Fridge/Freezer/Microwave all-in-one unit.

If you bundle it with your loft, you get $10 off your loft and $10 off the fridge unit, for a $20 savings! With this option there is no need to worry about buying, storing or transporting these appliances. Order by August 5.

Bike lockers

If you plan on keeping your bicycle on campus, the university offers a bike locker rental service to ensure its protection from factors such as weather, theft and vandalism.

The bike locker rental process is simple and easy, allowing students to have their own personal key to access their locker during their rental period.

The prices for locker rental depend on the length of the intended rental period:

  • $50 for the academic year
  • $25 per semester
  • $20 for summer rental

Bike lockers are assigned on a “first-come, first-served” basis. To fill out a bike locker rental application, follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to the Housing Student Portal using your Net ID and password.
  2. Select “Bike Lockers” from the menu on the left.
  3. Follow the remaining directions to reserve your bike locker.

Insurance

UW-Whitewater offers optional renter’s insurance through GradGuard, though it is not a requirement of University Housing. We encourage students to check with a parent or guardian’s homeowner policy to see if they may already be covered.

Summer storage

Here at University Housing, we know that moving everything home after finals can be a lot – packing, hauling and storing everything just to bring it back in a few months. This is why we are excited to offer our students a new summer storage option!

Through our partnership with StorageSquad.com, students will be provided with a service that can pick up, store and redeliver their belongings before August move-in time. Not only is this a secure, stress-free, and affordable way to handle summer storage, but a portion of the proceeds from this storage service will go towards supporting future university events!

  • Space is limited, so students should sign up at storagesquad.com/Wisconsin-whitewater by April 22 each year.
  • Storage Squad will mail the student their boxes and packing tape.
  • Students should pack and leave their belongings in their rooms before departing for the summer.
  • Storage Squad will handle the rest! Belongings will be picked up, securely stored, and delivered before move-in.
