Clinical Instructor - Counselor Education - 21810 (UWW INTERNAL ONLY)

 

ATTENTION:

 

The Department of Counselor Education in the College of Education and Professional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks one clinical faculty position in school counseling for a start date of August 2025.

 

This full-time position includes responsibilities for teaching graduate courses, advising and coordination in the Education in School Counseling Post Master's Certificate program and teaching courses in the Counselor Education master's program.

 

This is an internal posting for current UW-Whitewater employees. Applicants who currently are not employed by UW-Whitewater in a qualifying category will not be considered. After review of internal applicants, the position may be opened for public application.
 

JOB DETAILS:

 

The successful applicants will join a group of committed and vibrant faculty who deliver innovative learning opportunities to a diverse student body. They will teach core courses in the department, through a rigorous academic curriculum that includes experiential and self-reflective learning. The candidate is expected to engage program coordination, including development, marketing and evaluation of a successful post master's certificate leading to licensure in the state of Wisconsin. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or EdD or master's degree in counseling
  • Background in clinical mental health and/or school counseling
  • Eligible for licensure as an LPC and/or School Counselor in the state of Wisconsin

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with program organization and coordination
  • Teaching experience that includes online synchronous and asynchronous formats
  • Ability to work with Spanish-speaking clients and students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training drills.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Responsibilities include teaching courses in counselor education, courses in the clinical mental health counseling emphasis and/or school counseling emphasis and the post master's certificate in education in school counseling. Providing service to the university, participating in department activities, and advising students, using Slate and Navigate. It also includes supervision of students in practicum and internship; implementing program requirements; Ability to integrate technology, using Canvas and innovative practices into instruction. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

 

The Counselor Education Department has 5 full-time faculty members and a counseling services manager. The master's program includes a 60-credit program for Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a 60-credit program for School Counseling. The counseling program has been accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and other Related Educational Programs (CACREP) since 2000. The school counseling program and post master's certificate is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). The department is housed in the College of Education and Professional Studies (COEPS) along with other graduate degree programs in business education, communication sciences and disorders, educational leadership, professional development, and special education. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

 

Well-qualified candidates can expect a starting annual salary commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.
