Advising Frequently Asked Questions


The UW System has partnered with EAB to implement Navigate in Spring 2020, a student success management system.

Navigate is a software platform designed to enhance academic advising, mentoring, and coordinated student support through:

  • Smart guidance for students at pivotal points to clarify next steps and a path to progress and degree completion
  • Appointment scheduling, communication, and follow up from units across campus to promote increased collaboration and accountability
  • Proactive, coordinated support, and intervention campus-wide to refer students toward resources necessary for success
  • Analytics that reveal opportunities to reduce barriers, identify intervention needs, and support student services

This system will empower students with information and tools and help advisors, faculty, and staff build more effective, timely support to foster student success.

Current Users of the platform include:

  • Academic Advising & Exploration Center (AAEC)
  • College of Business & Economics (CoBE) Advising & Career Center
  • College of Education and Professional Studies (CoEPS) Advsing Office
  • UW-Whitewater at Rock County - Solution Center
  • UW-Whitewater at Rock County - TRIO Program

Onboarding of other departments, offices, and units will be ongoing; contact us if your office is interested in participating and learning more about Navigate!

    The Navigate app has many functions and uses that will help you experience all that UW-Whitewater has to offer. In this app you will be able to:

    • Make, update, or cancel an appointment with your academic advisor and other support offices (Spring 2020: advisors in the Academic Advising & Exploration Center, College of Business & Economics, College of Integrated Studies, select faculty advisors, and University Housing Complex Directors and Assistant Complex Directors) 
    • View important dates and your class schedule
    • Complete personalized, suggested to-do items or create your own to-do list
    • Access resources available to students on the main and Rock County campuses
    • Explore major options that fit your interests and needs
    • Create study groups

    To download the app, visit the App Store or Google Play and search for “Navigate Student” or follow the direct links below. After downloading, search within the app for “Whitewater.” Log in using your UW-Whitewater NetID and password.

    You may also access many of these functionalities on the desktop version of Navigate by logging in at

    This app works with other systems like WINS to collect information and put it in one place. However, this app does not replace or change the function of any other system on campus. Navigate will typically take up to 24 hours to show an update from another system like WINS. Navigate uses information that already exists to give show you messages and actions personalized to you to help keep you on track in college.

    The Navigate platform is designed to collect information that is vital to a student’s success and relevant to a student’s support network. This platform has many functions and uses that will help you efficiently manage your student caseload, provide targeted outreach and support to students, and easily alert other offices when a student is need of their support.

    Please remember that all actions and information inputted in the production site is live and documented.  You can still access the training site at any time to continue learning the functionalities of the platform.

    Interested in testing out using Navigate? There's a site for that! Visit the Navigate Training Site to click around, try various functionalities, and get used to the site. Since it's a training site, nothing you do will actually impact students or other users! When you're in the training site, you'll see a pink bar on the left. If you're seeing purple, proceed with caution: you're in the live UWW Navigate site, so your actions will trigger unintentional notifications to students and other staff.
