From Institutionalization to the College Classroom: Opening Doors for Young Adults with Significant Disabilities

This session will provide an overview of the UW-Whitewater LIFE (learning is for everyone) program, which is the first of its kind in the UW-System and provides comprehensive instruction for students with intellectual disabilities.  We have demonstrated that college can be adapted to meaningfully meet the needs of this historically underserved population and attendees will learn about steps being made to redefine a college education, as well as the supports necessary to make this possible.
