Recreation Sports & Facilities

Field Status

When the Fields are OPEN

Hours: 6AM-11PM
Please be advised the outdoor recreation fields are used by multiple stakeholders besides Rec Sports program areas ( including academic classes, Camps & Conferences, Intercollegiate Athletics, student organizations, etc.). As a result, certain field space(s) may be reserved and it is not guaranteed field space will be available for general recreation users. It is suggested that anyone interested in utilizing outdoor recreation spaces contact the Office of Recreation Sports & Facilities at 262-472-1145 to inquire about the availability of outdoor spaces before coming to use the desired area(s). Users participate at their own risk; Williams Center day passes and memberships are not required. Users must, however, abide by all parking regulations established by UW-Whitewater Parking Services. Vehicles using parking space(s) improperly when using outdoor recreation areas are subject to ticketing and other parking regulations.

NOTE: The Office of Recreation Sports & Facilities is a proud owner of an automatic robo mower for outdoor recreation fields. This mower is programmed to mow fields around reservation times, which could impact someone's perception of available open recreation space. Mowing dates/times, programs and patterns are not intended to be published and may vary at any time with no advance notice. Users of the outdoor field space are to respect this machine and keep items away from its mowing path. The Office of Recreation Sports & Facilities is NOT responsible for items damaged by this robo mower, as users assume the responsibility and risk when entering the facility.

Anyone determined to have deliberately impacted the robo mower's ability to perform its expected action is subject to being responsible for the cost of maintenance and/or a replacement mower.

Weather Resources

Rec Sports staff uses the following information to make facility decisions:
The National Weather Service

Weather can be very subjective - never assume facilities are closed and activities are canceled without receiving notice for Rec Sports.

Due to having different playing surfaces, the outdoor sand volleyball pits and Wangerin Tennis Courts are subject to having a different status compared to the fields.
