Dear Early Childhood Educators,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 42nd annual UW-Whitewater Early Childhood Conference! The theme of this year’s conference is Live, Laugh, Learn and we hope you will join us for the amazing professional development opportunities at this year’s conference.

As you check out the conference website you will notice a remarkable line up of speakers and topics, along with some exciting changes that we hope add to this conference experience. On Friday, there will be two options for full day workshops and a variety of half-day sessions. Saturday’s conference will offer a day full of one-hour sessions featuring a variety of speakers and artists.

We are thrilled to announce that we will kick-off the conference on Saturday with a Keynote Session by award winning and best selling author, Holly Elissa Bruno. During the keynote Holly Elissa’s uplifting remarks will inspire us to step back, acknowledge our contributions and take better care of ourselves. Keep your eyes out for her newest book, Happiness is Running Through the Streets to Find You: Translating Trauma’s Harsh Legacy Into Healing, which will be available February 2020 through Exchange Press.

That’s just a sneak peak of some of the awesome things happening this year. We will also have vendors and a silent auction. Please check our website for updates along with our Facebook page ( UW-Whitewater Early Childhood Conference). Register as soon as possible to take advantage of early bird pricing and reduced rates. This year we are also excited to offer a discount for groups of 5 or more.

So, grab a friend and join early childhood educators from near and far to Live, Laugh, and Learn together!

Warm Regards,

Kristen Linzmeier

Keynote: Hats Off to You: Everyday Miracle Workers in Children’s Lives

Holly Elissa Bruno MA, JD

Holly Elissa Bruno

Do you give yourself credit for the difference you are making? Or, do you keep up the hard work without taking a quiet moment to appreciate the good that you do? We educators are so expert at putting everyone else’s needs first that we rarely have time left over for ourselves. Let’s instead step back to acknowledge our contributions, take better care of ourselves, and reclaim the joy that is rightfully ours. After all, each time you change the life of a child, you are changing the world.

"Hi, It's Me! I have ADHD" is a children's book that invites you into the thoughts, feelings and emotions of a child living with ADHD. This book has vibrant illustrations that really bring the story to life. The author educates,  Book empowers, and encourages readers to see the strengths beneath the diagnosis through the text and the tips included at the end of the book. There are also printable coloring pages at the end of the book that can be used for centers or a child's journal. This book is valuable not only for children with ADHD, but also for educators, peers, social workers, or other professionals working with children.

If you give teachers a day at UW-Whitewater, they are probably going to learn some things!
