Campus Facilities Planning works at both the micro and the macro levels to support the UW‐Whitewater campus mission and provide stewardship of campus facilities. Working closely with campus leadership, Facilities Planning and Management (FPM) and the Instructional, Communication and Information Technology (ICIT) division, they facilitate all levels of planning and project development and coordination services such as correction of safety issues and code noncompliance, facility and instructional space improvements (new carpet, furniture, paint), signage, workspace layouts for improved efficiency or growing departments and comprehensive space management.
Campus Facilities Planning also acts as the liaison with the Wisconsin Department of Administration’s (DOA) Division of Facilities Development and Management (DFDM) and UW System’s Capital Planning & Budget Office regarding compliance with all federal and state laws, and UW Regent policies that apply to the use and management of campus facilities. They also work with these agencies for comprehensive campus master planning and development and implementation of major state capital improvement projects such as: utility improvement projects (Fiber Optic Backbone Upgrade); large scale renovations (Laurentide/Carlson Hall, Arey‐Fricker+Link Residence Hall Renovation); and new construction (Chrisman Success Center and new residence hall).
In support of the planning efforts listed above, another key stewardship responsibility for the Campus Facilities Planning group is the creation and maintenance of accurate data and drawings about the use and condition of campus facilities and developing long‐range strategic plans for capital improvement projects for the UW‐Whitewater campus. This data is used for local campus level planning, capital planning and required reporting to UW System and the State of Wisconsin.
