Possible Funding Sources

  • Federal Financial Aid: UWW LIFE is an approved Comprehensive Transition Program (CTP). Eligible students can receive federal financial aid. More information can be found on our Federal Financial Aid website.
  • Self-directed supports/IRIS benefits can support a student attending college in the areas of daily living skills instruction, supportive home care, self-advocacy training, and fitness center membership.

Housing Information

The residence hall and authenticity of the housing arrangement will provide many opportunities to prepare students for independent living, as this setting will be an extension of the classroom.

LIFE students will be embedded with traditional students and they will share similar housing arrangements, including double occupancy rooms, keyed entry, laundry facilities, and access to common social areas of the residence halls.

LIFE Students will reside in Tutt Residence Hall.

Independent Living Assistants: The Basic Program will include teams consisting of two independent living assistants (ILAs) per four LIFE students. ILAs will assist with supporting students during non-instructional times. They also plan fun events for the students such as game nights, movie nights, trips to off-campus dining options, and karaoke.

Meal Plan

  • A variety of meal plans are available to meet each student’s specific needs.
  • UW-Whitewater’s meal plan allows students to get food from many dining locations on campus.
  • Dining dollars can also be used at dining locations on campus if a student wants to get food not offered on the meal plan. Students get discounts when using Dining Dollars instead of cash or card.
  • LIFE students get the opportunity to try off campus meal options. The city of Whitewater offers a variety of fast food and sit-down restaurants as well. While meal plans do not apply to off campus locations, Purple Points can be used at a variety of restaurants off-campus.
  • Healthy living is important to the LIFE program. To facilitate healthy eating habits, dining locations offer healthy options for students. LIFE students are also encouraged to cook independently throughout their time in the program. This includes utilizing Tutt Hall’s full kitchen to cook group meals.
