UWW Athletics assesses the following charges:

  • Intercollegiate Try-out Fee:  A non-refundable fee assessed to students who attend the first day of tryouts or practice for any varsity sport. 
  • Intercollegiate Roster Fee: Fee assessed to any student athlete who, at any time during the competition season in their respective sport, makes the official team roster.
  • Preseason Meals/Housing: Charge assessed for meal and housing expenses incurred prior to the start of the academic term.

The UWW Bookstore oversee the following charges:

  • Textbook Rental:  Charge assessed to undergraduate students to support the rental service that provides textbooks for coursework. The fee amounts are reviewed and recommended for UW System approval annually by the campus SUFAC Committee.
  • E-Books and Access Codes: Charge assessed once opting-in to access an e-book for coursework.
  • Bookstore Student Sales: In person or online purchase of academic books and supplies.  Books typically refer to lab manuals, paperback books, and other materials not covered in textbook rental.  Supplies refer to notebooks, pens, and other school supplies. Clothing, gift items, and graduation regalia should be paid for at the time of purchase.
  • Textbook Charge: Charge assessed when rental books are not returned by the semester deadline or a returned book is damaged.
  • Textbook Penalty Fee: Fee assessed for the late return of rental books.

The Registrar's Office applies the Certification Fee charge.  This fee covers the costs involved with awarding the credential to the student including degree audit, diploma, diploma cover, evaluation of meeting requirements, mailing, and support.  A Certification Fee is added to the student account once a required number of credits for a degree-seeking program is earned. 

  • Associate - 45 credits
  • Bachelor's - 105 credits
  • Post-Baccalaureate - 18 credits
  • Graduate - 24 credits

  • Weekly Meal Plans - 10, 14, 19, or 24:  Dining plans chosen by the student based on frequency of weekly use.
  • Flex Meal Plans - 15 or 30: Flexible dining plan chosen by the student.
  • Dining Dollars: Included with weekly and flex meal plans, or as a stand-alone meal plan, allowing students to upgrade or purchase extra meals. Additional dining dollars can be purchased.
  • Purple Points: Prepaid funds for on-campus and off-campus purchases at participating businesses.
  • University ID Charge: Charge assessed for a replacement HawkCard ID.

Distance Education Fees apply to courses with the instruction mode of Online (O), Virtual Classrom (VC), and Limited On-Campus (LC), unless service-based pricing applies. This fee is used to supplement instruction design, instructor training, course development and preparation, technology and instructional resource support, course supplies and expenses.

Starting October 1, 2026, degree-seeking undergraduate students remit a one-time $100.00 Enrollment Deposit payment during the Warhawks SOAR registration.  This payment confirms intent to enroll at UW-Whitewater and is applied towards the tuition balance upon enrollment.  Enrollment deposits are refundable (minus the transaction fee) until May 1 for Summer/Fall semester enrollment and November 15 for Winterim/Spring semester enrollment. To cancel your admission and receive a refund, contact the Admissions Office directly, to inform them that you no longer plan to attend, by emaiing uwwadmit@uww.edu or calling 262-472-1440.  An Enrollment Deposit Forfeiture is added to the student account if the student fails to enroll or does not cancel their admission by the refund deadline dates. 

When charges remain unpaid by the monthly billing due date (12th of each month), finance charges are assessed as the University's credit was extended due to nonpayment. A 1.25% Finance Charge is assessed each monthly billing to past due charges. A reduced 1.00% Installment Finance Charge is assessed each monthly billing cycle for amounts on the Nelnet Payment Plan. Finance charges will be assessed until the outstanding balance is satisfied. 

The University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) provide routine, preventative, and acute non-emergency care.  If services are not paid at the clinic, a charge can be added to the student account. Charges on the student bill will be labeled Misc Health Service Charge, Taxable Health Service, or Non-Taxable Health Service.  For questions related to these charges, please contact UHCS by emailing uhcs@uww.edu or calling 262-472-1300.

University Housing assesses the following charges:

  • Housing Deposit Forfeiture: A deposit forfeiture fee is assessed once the deadline to request a housing deposit refund has passed. 
  • Room Charge - Single, Double, Triple, Suite: Charge to stay in campus facilities during academic terms. Room charges vary by occupancy and size.
  • Summer School Housing: Charge to stay in campus facilities during the summer months.
  • Guest Housing: Assessed after a temporary stay in campus facilities.
  • Loaner Key Checkout: When a room key is left behind or is lost, loaner keys are available for checkout. The first checkout is free, but subsequent checkouts are assesesed a fee.
  • Res Hall Key Charge: Charge assessed after a lock change is required and/or a new key is issued.
  • Misc Res Hall Charge: Charge assessed for other various reasons such as room change requests, cleaning a room, or damage to items within a room.
  • Res Life Common Area Damage: A community charge for damage, theft, messes, or other acts that occurred in common hall areas.
  • Bike Locker: Rental service charge to protect a bike from weather, theft, and vandalism.
  • Web Education Class: Assigned sanction resulting from a conduct case.
  • Choices Program: Assigned sanction resulting from a conduct case.

The Center for Global Education oversee the following charges:

  • Int'l Stdnt Orientation Fee: Fee assessed for providing an orientation program to incoming international students.
  • Int'l Education Admin Fee: Fee covers the cost of administrative support of international students.
  • International Health Ins: Health insurance charge required for all international and exchange students. 
  • Study Abroad (various destinations): Program fees vary from location to location and may include tuition, housing, airfare, and other fees.
  • Travel Study (various destinations outside of US): Program fees vary from location to location and may include tuition, housing, airfare, and other fees.
  • CGE Admin Fee - Study Abroad: Fee covers the cost of study abroad advising, processing of applications, pre-departure guidance, orientation and workshops, program and advising materials, continued support while students are abroad, re-entry programming, and study abroad academic credit and grade articulation processing.
  • CGE Admin Fee - Travel Study: Fee covers the cost of travel study advising, processing of applications, pre-departure guidance, orientation and workshops, program and advising materials, continued support while students are abroad, re-entry programming, and study abroad academic credit and grade articulation processing.
  • CISI Insurance: Fee assessed for the CISI insurance policy required by the Universities of Wisconsin.  
  • Contingency Fee: Proceeds from this fee go into a contingency fund, as mandated by the Universities of Wisconsin. Fund is used to cover costs associated with emergencies or other unforeseen challenges.
  • NSE Application Fee: Application fee for the National Student Exchange program.
