Gettysburg: The Battle That Saved America and Produced the Most Famous Speech in American History

Gettysburg was the site of a crucial civil war battle. What happened over three days in early July, 1863, involved conflicts between old friends, the emergence of one of the greatest Union officers of the war, and the only use of a Napoleonic charge by General Lee. The battle also provided President Lincoln with an opportunity to say a few words about the war. Those words not only captured the essence of the war but also helped change the course of American history.
