Free Food Alert! at UW-Whitewater
Stay sustainable AND eat for free! Free Food Alert! is a new app available to UW-Whitewater students, faculty, and staff that helps reduce food waste by connecting you with free meals on campus. Receive real-time notifications when leftover food is available from catered campus events or when frozen meals and other donations are delivered to the Warhawk Pantry. All you need is a reusable container to bring to the Free Food Alert! event. As an added bonus, a limited quantity of reusable containers are available at the Warhawk Pantry during open hours. Most alerts are time-sensitive, letting you know where to find food that's available within the next 15-30 minutes.
Sign up using your @uww.edu email to start receiving alerts. Go to Free Food Alert! to register, or stop by the Warhawk Pantry and a staff member will be happy to help you get started.
How to Sign up
- Create an account with Free Food Alert! using your university email and create a password.
- Collect your reusable container at the Warhawk Pantry OR bring ONE of your own.
- Receive alerts and arrive at the free food opportunity WITH your reusable container.
Become a Free Food Alert! Giveaway Host
Hosting a catered event on campus? Offering free food at your student org meeting? Help us reduce food waste!
Join our campus-wide mission to keep good food from going to waste by becoming a Giveaway Host. Whether you’re hosting a small meeting with snacks or a large catered lunch, you can make a difference. At the end of your event, invite fellow Warhawks to stop by and take home any leftover food using their own containers. It’s an easy way to distribute extra food, support our campus community, and reduce waste. Student organization leaders that are offering free food at their events or meetings can also post a Free Food Alert event if they want to promote their event to a larger audience.
Steps to Become a Giveaway Host:
- Create an account with Free Food Alert!
- Complete the 20-minute Giveaway Host Training.
- Fill out the Host Giveaway form to send a notification of a Live Giveaway at the end of your gathering that food is available!
