Boxes and Walls is an interactive diversity experience created for our students and the entire UW-W community. It is an oppression experience highlighting social justice awareness. The program is designed to let the participant experience a few different social justice issues and put them in the shoes of students on our campus that identify with those experiences on a daily basis.

When you arrive at Esker Hall, get in line by the “line starts here” sign. When you reach the front of the line, you’ll receive a ticket with a time on it. That time is when your tour through Boxes and Walls will start. You do not need to wait in Esker Hall for your start time; you are welcome to leave and come back. You must arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled start time and report to the “tour groups meet here” sign. In order to get as many people through Boxes and Walls as possible, the tours must start on time. As a result, if you are late for your tour, you will need to wait in line to receive another ticket and another start time.
This is a program that occurs a couple weeks after Boxes & Walls, for students to explain how they felt, to answer any questions they may have, and further educate them on what they can do in their communities now to celebrate diversity. After this program students should have their questions answered from Boxes & Walls, as well as be educated enough to have diversity and social justice conversations with their peers in their community.
