Antivirus Software

Antivirus software is a critical component of our overall information security defenses. It is crucial for every computing device that connects to the campus network. Without it, you risk losing sensitive campus information, your files, and your personal information.

Cisco Secure Endpoint, part of the Cisco Secure Client, is pre-installed on university-owned computers to help protect you. We also offer free antivirus software to install on your home computers.

Getting started with Antivirus

All university-owned devices come pre-installed with the Cisco Secure Endpoint as our antivirus program, which is part of the Cisco Secure Client.

For UW-W faculty and staff, an antivirus program is required for all personal devices in order to connect to campus Wi-Fi or to access network services through VPN.

Students are also encouraged to install antivirus software on their devices to keep them secure and help protect the UWW network.

If your personal device does not currently have an antivirus program, faculty, staff, and students may download the free version of AVG.
