Freedom of Expression

“For nearly 160 years, the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater has remained steadfast in its commitment to the values of academic excellence, collaboration, and inclusivity.

Our campus community believes that education flourishes when every individual has the opportunity to express ideas freely, thoughtfully, and respectfully. We encourage students, faculty, and staff to explore, question, and engage in dialogue that broadens our understanding and strengthens our shared purpose as Warhawks.

While the open exchange of ideas can sometimes lead to discomfort or disagreement, it is through these conversations that we grow—both as individuals and as a community. As I often say, we can agree to agree, agree to disagree, and agree that sometimes more information is needed to make an informed decision.

This enduring commitment to academic freedom and freedom of expression is at the heart of what it means to be Warhawk Bold. Together, we will continue to cultivate an environment where every voice contributes to the conversations that shape our campus, our region, and our world.”
