UW-Whitewater Supported Resources for Remote Working

Tool (with links to instructions)

Quick Tips for Getting Started

Work on files that I usually access from campus on my Network Drives (e.g. G:, H:, T:).

VPN (Cisco AnyConnect)

  • Get connected BEFORE you need to access files remotely, so you can get support from the Help Desk if you have trouble.
  • If you are accessing network files (G:Drive and T:Drive) from a home device, you will need to map them.

Use my computer to make/receive calls from my work phone number, as well as access my voicemail.

Jabber

  • It comes pre-installed on your campus computer--just open Cisco Jabber and enter your NET-ID and password to get started!
  • Please DO NOT forward your work phone to a cell phone, there is not enough call capacity to handle all campus employees. Simply download the Jabber application from your home device instead. You can also download Jabber Mobile on your cell phone or tablets.
  • You can also use Cisco Jabber at home, on your own device to easily make and receive work calls.
  • Review this Quick Start Guide to familiarize yourself with what you can all do with Jabber!

Access my W2, Query Libray, or UWBI.

Virtual Lab (Citrix)

Collaborate on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with others.

Google Drive

  • Talk with your team or colleagues about how you want to use Google Drive for your work.
  • The key is the organization of work into folders and making sure everyone has access to those folders! You might think about creating a Shared Google Drive as a way to share multiple files with a team-use.
  • Quickly learn Google Drive Basics.
