Technology Purchasing

ICIT makes a variety of computer hardware and software available through the self-service catalogComputer hardware, software, peripherals or any other equipment that is intended to connect to the campus wired or wireless network and/or use any infrastructure building cabling that is not available in the catalog will require consultation with ICIT prior to purchase.

ICIT has developed an efficient process for evaluation. When approved, attach a copy of the purchase approval email message from ICIT to the purchase order. If you already have an ICIT contact for purchasing/consultation, please continue to consult with them.

Getting Started with Technology Purchasing

A variety of technology options is available to meet your campus computing needs. For hardware not available in the online catalog please see the Purchasing Consultation tab for contact information. Please note, connecting new networked device to the campus network requires consultation with ICIT to review the impact. To request a consultation complete the Evaluation of New Network Device.

Placing an order using the online catalog:

  1. Go to helpdesk.uww.edu and log in using your Net-ID
  2. Select "Request Something."
  3.  On the top of the screen select "Browse by Catagories."
  4. On the left-hand side of the screen, under categories, select: "IT Equipment & Software".

You will receive a confirmation email with a ticket number after your order has been submitted.

Campus-owned computers come with several software applications pre-installed on Windows and Mac, including the Microsoft Office Suite. Other products are available to be installed upon appropriate request or through the self-service programs for Windows and  Mac.  Some titles are also available for use at home by faculty and staff.

If you would like to purchase software not available in the catalog, including cloud-hosted software, please complete the  Software Request Form.

Campus Technology Purchasing Policy  requires that any computer, hardware, software, peripherals or other equipment that is intended to connect to the campus wired or wireless network and/or use an infrastructure building cabling will require consultation with ICIT prior to purchase. The Evaluation of New Network Device form is used to request consultation with ICIT to review the impact of connecting new networked device types to the campus network. Requests will be reviewed by the campus network staff for technical feasibility and by the ICIT Management Team for consistency with policy and strategic direction.  The New Software Purchase form is used to request consultation on new purchases of software that will be installed on campus-owned computers, equipment connected to the campus network, or cloud-based software.
