UWW offers a comprehensive program of study that prepares students to teach Art in Wisconsin schools in grades Kindergarten through High School. The program engages the pre-service student in a broad array of 2-D and 3-D studio experiences and art history classes that provide a thorough grounding for content taught in the art room across the K-12 grades. As well, this breadth of course work serves to deepen the individuals own artistic skills and understandings. Preparation in Education links university studies with field-based practicum that familiarizes students with both the theory and practice of teaching. No less than three field placements provide for a breadth of experience and guarantees a diversity of involvements with elementary, middle and high school students; thus our prospective teachers build a practical skill set of classroom knowledge and practices, as well as the dispositions and confidence to succeed in a career in education.
