ATTENTION:

The Instructional, Communication, and Informational Technology Department seeks a Business Analyst.

JOB DETAILS:


Under the supervision of the Director of Applications Development, this position will interact with different campus departments in analyzing and modeling processes flow, generating business cases, gathering and documenting general requirements, creating gap analysis and contributing in many aspects of the software development lifecycle in complex environments. This position will also need to be able to learn third party enterprise applications participating in their configuration and support.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Computer Science/MIS, or the equivalent of education and work
  • General knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
  • Ability to document, communicate, and implement innovative solutions to meet or exceed business goals
  • Strong technical aptitude, initiative, creativity, and excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work both independently and on team assignments
Highly Desired Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of business processes and ERP systems in higher education or other industries
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Strong attention to detail without losing focus
  • Strong analytical skills, business intuition, and organizational ability
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to new circumstances, information, and challenges
  • Proficient experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
RESPONSIBILITIES:

90%   A. Support of large, complex systems and projects consisting of multi-phased implementation efforts

  1. Provides alternative solutions and recommendations to complex business problems and issues and works with team members to determine satisfactory approach.
  2. Develops user documentation.
  3. Participates in the planning, execution and deployment of new systems and enhancements to existing systems.
  4. Participates in ERP software configuration efforts. Reviews changes delivered in upgrades and updates, making adjustments as necessary.
  5. Adheres to and maintains change control processes.
  6. Maintains knowledge of Recruiter, ImageNow, 25Live and other 3rd party system and communicate recommendations for best practices.
  7. Provides advanced problem solving and technical support; works with staff to resolve complex technical problems.
  8. Collaborates in the development and documentation of new product releases.
  9. Provides customer assistance and training during acceptance testing and implementation. Performs demonstrations of new and enhanced applications.
  10. Acquires and maintains a working knowledge of the customer’s operation and business needs.
  11. Provides Business procedures advice and expertise regarding data and processes in the installed system.
  12. Determines the feasibility of project requests and assesses their impact on the system.
5%    B. Participates in Organized Activities and Projects
  1. Reads and discuss pertinent materials to maintain awareness of the operation procedures and environment of the UW-Whitewater campus, and ICIT.
  2. Supports and proposes technical, operating and organizational standards to contribute to the effectiveness of ICIT and the AIS department.
  3. Participates in group, department and ICIT staff meetings as needed.
  4. Tutors and train team members and new staff.
  5. Shares knowledge with fellow IT and functional professionals and provide assistance in areas of personal expertise.
  6. Prepares special reports, reviews and recommendations as requested.
  7. Assists the Group Manager in the recruitment of staff and the assessment of staff performance.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
5%    C. Participation in employee development activities, both assigned and self-initiated
  1. Consults with other project managers and leaders about projects under their responsibility and techniques they use to be effective.
  2. Reads books and periodicals to improve knowledge.
  3. Attends training sessions, conferences and workshops to increase knowledge in project management, systems development work flows and stages and other applicable skills such as written communication, oral communication and leadership. Works with documentation team to develop user documentation.
  4. Reviews University and external publications to increase understanding of university issues and needs, especially those pertaining to direct customers.
  5. Demonstrates a commitment to respect and the practice of civility in the workplace.
  6. Will be an active participant in the following of safety rules and regulation including necessary training and drills.
  7. Demonstrates a commitment to organizational success.
