The Airway Sensory Physiology Laboratory within the Communication Sciences & DIsorders department in the College of Education & Professional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks to hire two (2) Associate / Research Specialists in Laryngeal Sensorimotor Control. These are one-year fixed terminal positions, renewable contingent upon continued grant funding and needs of the department.
The Airway Sensory Physiology Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (PI Michael J. Hammer, M.A., Ph.D., CCC-SLP) is looking to integrate research specialist positions with our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more research experience before taking the next steps towards a Ph.D. This would also be an excellent opportunity for someone with previous clinical experience who would like to integrate these skills into a research team. The position is initially for one year (renewal is possible contingent upon grant funding, satisfactory performance and productivity) with a preferred starting date in the Spring 2018, Summer 2018, and/or Fall 2018. Candidates with an undergraduate or graduate degree in communication disorders/speech science, neuroscience, cognitive/behavioral neuroscience, motor control/kinesiology, biomedical engineering, and related fields, are encouraged to apply. We seek candidates with excellent verbal and written communication skills who are strongly motivated to participate in clinical translational neuroscience.
Clinical certification and previous experience with endoscopic speech, voice, and swallow assessment would also be helpful but are not required.
