ATTENTION:

The Human Resources & Diversity Office at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a Development Coordinator (Human Resources Specialist).

JOB DETAILS:

The Development coordinator is responsible for identifying and developing the human resources related training and development needs of faculty and staff. This position assesses campus-wide developmental needs to drive training initiatives, which include, but is not limited to identifying and arranging, training solutions for employees.

The individual in this position must demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining effective professional relationships with internal and external customers. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information with tact and discretion. Use effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit. Present ideas, carry out assignments, and provide information as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 years experience in developing and presenting employee training programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, teaching, Human Resources or related field
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrates strong presentation skills in the facilitation of various workshops and training
  • Maintains professional courteous service and quick response to employees
  • Ability to use discretion and judgment to handle sensitive and confidential matters
  • Excellent customer service skills, including the ability to determine a customer's specific needs and provide accurate information which fully and thoroughly meets those needs
  • Knowledge of human resources policies and procedures relating to recruitment and hiring and equal opportunity laws, rules and procedures
  • Knowledge of organizational and time management techniques and the ability to handle a variety of tasks with numerous interruptions and strict deadlines
  • Knowledge of Federal law regarding the I-9 identity verification process
  • Knowledge of the Internet and its uses
  • Knowledge of office management practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of office equipment use, including printers, and copiers
  • Excellent skill in computer software including Word, Excel and Access
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to plan, establish priorities and organize varied and complex work
  • Ability to maintain an organized and efficient work area
  • Ability to provide work instructions and training
  • Ability to prioritize and complete projects within timelines
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Training and Development
  1. Conducts annual training and development needs assessment
  2. Proposes training and development programs and objectives
  3. Develops and monitors training and development budget
  4. Obtains and /or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of media
  5. Coaches managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts
  6. Plans, organizes and facilitates employee development and training events
  7. Develops and maintains organizational communications through a training and development website, the HR newsletter and other campus communications to ensure employees have knowledge of training and development events and resources
  8. Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results
  9. Modifies programs as needed
Employee Programs
  1. Assists with the promotion of the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  2. Serves as the contact and liaison between UW-Whitewater Human Resources and the EAP provider
  3. Serves as the UW Whitewater Employee Wellness Coordinator
  4. Works with designated campus staff on the promotion and implementation of wellness activities
  5. Provides data and statistics as needed for the EAP and Wellness initiatives
  6. Assists the UW Whitewater Benefits staffin the coordination of the annual Benefits fair and other benefits initiatives as needed
  7. Provides assistance to the HR leadership team as needed
  8. Participates in HR&D campus committees and training programs
  9. Recommends changes to office systems, procedures, applications and forms
  10. Provides back up to other Human Resources staff as needed
  11. Completes other duties and projects as assigned
