Lecturer, Digital Animation - College of Arts & Communication - 15309 - EXTENDED DEADLINE


The Department of Art and Design and the Media Arts and Game Development Program in the College of Arts and Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a Lecturer for the department in Digital Animation. The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in digital animation, advanced 3-D modeling and concept art related to game development. The position starts August 2019 with an anticipated one year appointment - there is a possibility for an additional year depending on availability of funds. Salary is commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • MFA, masters degree in a related discipline OR 10 years tested work experience
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with motion capture
  • Prior college teaching experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with industry standard applications including Maya or 3ds Max, Mudbox, Photoshop and Illustrator software
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds

This position will teach seven class sections across two semesters.


The mission of the Department of Art and Design is to promote a culture of transformation through education in the visual arts and to foster a community dedicated to introducing students to professional practices in the arts and related disciplines. The Media Arts and Game Development (MAGD) Program is an innovative interdisciplinary program that emphasizes the use of digital technology for the conceptualization and development of computer-based multimedia applications. The UW-Whitewater Art and Design Program is housed in the Greenhill Center of the Arts (CA), the largest discipline designated complex on the UW-Whitewater campus and an outstanding arts facility. The Center for the Arts houses dedicated art computer labs generating graphic and media design, and extensive ceramics, printmaking, jewelry and metalsmithing, sculpture and foundry, painting, and drawing studios run by internationally competitive faculty. Facilities also include a state-of-the-art Art History theater and the Crossman Gallery which features a range of contemporary national and regional exhibitions. The College is home to a visiting artist program which each year brings to campus a series of nationally known guest artists for workshops, demonstrations and lectures.
