ATTENTION:

The Department of Accounting in the College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 2020, subject to final budgetary approval. This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting, conducting research, and providing service to the university and community.

JOB DETAILS:

The successful candidate will be able to teach a variety of accounting courses as part of the undergraduate accounting program and the Masters of Professional Accountancy program. The candidate will also be expected to pursue an active research agenda that results in publications and contributes to advancing the department, university, the profession, and society. The candidate will also be expected to participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ph.D. in Accounting or closely related field, DBA, or J.D. from an AACSB accredited institution is required. ABD candidates may apply but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August 2020; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January 2021 in advance of their first scheduled review. Demonstrated commitment to teaching with an emphasis on promoting the success of undergraduate and graduate students, clear evidence of scholarly potential, commitment to working with diverse populations and serving as active member of the university community. Preference will be given to applicants with CPA certification and practical experience in accounting.

  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Full-Time teaching responsibilities include teaching courses in the undergraduate and graduate accounting programs
  • Online teaching may be required. An active scholarly research portfolio is expected.
  • In addition, faculty members are expected to engage in direct interactions with the students through their role as advisors/mentors to students, collaboration on undergraduate research or other scholarly activities, and professional development activities.
Service responsibilities:
Committee service at the departmental, college, and university levels as well as participation in community organizations as relevant to the candidate’s expertise and interest.
