ATTENTION:

The Office of Recreation Sports and Facilities under the Athletic Department seeks an Assistant Director of Intramural & Club Sports (Student Service Program Manager 1 – Level 4).

JOB DETAILS:

Under general supervision from the Associate Director of Recreation Sports, the Assistant Director of Intramural and Club Sports will develop, administer, implement and promote Intramural and Club programs to enhance the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Office of Recreation Sports & Facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Highly Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Sports Management or a closely related field.
  • Graduate Assistantship and/or 1-2 years of experience in Recreation Sports and Facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Direct the operations of the Intramural Sports program, including scheduling programs and facilities, developing, promoting, supervising, and evaluating all programs.
  2. Administer all policies and procedures and handle disciplinary action.
  3. Supervise and direct the recruitment, selection, training, and scheduling of student employees including Intramural Sports supervisors and officials and trainers for Club Sports, and evaluate their work performance.
  4. Supervise the Equipment Manager (.75 FTE in Rec. Sports) to include the equipment checkout process, supervision of student staff, and inventory and control.
  5. Direct the operations of approximately 30 sports clubs, including program finances and schedule development, promotion of club membership and club activities, and evaluation of activities.
  6. Market and promote all aspects of the Recreational Sports programs, including web page development and usage.
  7. Counsel student officers and develop student leadership opportunities within all Club Sports programs.
  8. Plan short-term and long-term goals and objectives, including preparation and maintenance of all operating budgets.
  9. Participate in Orientation programs, including Premiere Days, SOAR and Welcome Week activities for the promotion of Intramural and Club Sports.
  10. Assist the Director in the operations of all Summer Camp and Conference activities at Williams Center and the surrounding athletic/recreation complex.
  11. Assist the Director of Recreation Sports and Facilities in the operation of the Williams Center Complex. Duties include night and weekend supervision, supervision of equipment set-up and takedown for intercollegiate athletic events and special events.
  12. Keep abreast of new development in the Recreation Sports profession to provide new Intramural and Club Sports and activities to meet student’s needs.
