ATTENTION:

The Department of University Health and Counseling Services seeks a Counselor / Psychologist (Experienced Counselor).

JOB DETAILS:

This is a .85 FTE position in the Counseling department of University Health & Counseling Services. This position is responsible for providing a full range of clinical services for students as well as training and consultation services to faculty, staff, and students. This generalist position addresses the developmental, transitional, mental health, and prevention needs of all students. It reports administratively to the Executive Director of UHCS. UHCS is an affirmative action organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s level clinician (MSW, MFT, MS, MA)
Desired Qualifications:
  • A doctoral level clinician (Ph.D./Psy.D/Ed.D in Counseling/Clinical Psychology) is preferred.
  • Current independent WI license or equivalent within one year of hire preferred. This includes LP, LPC, LCSW, LMFT.
  • Prefer demonstrated experience providing psychological services to students in a university counseling center.
Knowledge, Skills & Abililties:
  • Applicants must possess well-developed interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills and have the ability to relate to a diverse university community.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide individual, couples, and group counseling/therapy for students.
  2. Proficient understanding, interest, and experience in working with and treating individuals from multicultural and diverse backgrounds.
  3. Provide on-call emergency coverage during regular business hours for students in acute emotional distress.
  4. Provide individual clinical supervision to trainees.
  5. Participate in a minimum of one UHCS outreach initiative each academic semester.
  6. Provide consultation services to faculty & staff regarding student mental health needs and current mental health issues.
  7. Participate in weekly case conference and counseling staff meeting.
  8. Ethical practice is to be guided by the code of ethics of the individual’s respective professional organization.
  9. Participate as member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  10. Participate on university committees and internal program planning, development and evaluation.
  11. Assume other responsibilities as assigned.
  12. Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
  13. Ability to interact respectfully interacting with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
  14. Maintain the appropriate license/certification. During each biennium, counselors, marriage and family therapists, and social workers must complete 30 credit hours of continuing education, and psychologists must complete 40 credit hours.
Supervision received:
  • Administrative supervision is received from the Executive Director of UHCS.
  • Clinical consultation is collegial and shared.
Supervision exercised:
  • Clinical supervision is exercised with counseling trainees
