ATTENTION:

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics seeks an Assistant Coach (Assistant Sports Performance Coach). This is a 40% FTE position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Experience designing and overseeing strength and conditioning workouts
  • Certification from either/or NSCA (CSCS), CSCCa (SCCC)
  • First Aid/CPR/AED Certification
Desired Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Exercise Science or related field
  • Strength and Conditioning coaching experience at the collegiate level
  • Experience working with GPS tracking units (VX Sport)
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations, including necessary training and drills
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Develops and implements strength and conditioning activities for select varsity sports as assigned. Work closely with Director of Sport Performance and each sport’s head coach. Monitors the progress of each athlete and implements changes where needed
  2. Provide leadership and instruction in the athletic development of student athletes to include skill analysis, teach proper technique and adapt workouts to match each sports specific needs, provide encouragement, motivation and feedback to student athletes to ensure maximum development of athletic potential
  3. Work with athletic training staff and modify workouts based on injury
  4. Be a team player and assist with all athletes and sports when needed
  5. Assist with training interns and volunteers. Maintain weight room and equipment
  6. Perform related departmental duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance
  7. Ability to work early mornings, late nights and travel on weekends as needed
  8. Reports To: Director of Sport Performance. Will maintain good working relationship with Director of Sports Performance, Sports Performance Assistant Coaches, Athletic Director, Athletic Trainers, Athletic Department Support Staff, and other Department and University personnel.
