JOB DETAILS:

The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for identifying, establishing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships between the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater and its alumni. In this role, the director serves as the primary conduit between the university and its various alumni constituencies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in alumni relations, development, marketing, or a related field
Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in managing staff and volunteers, creating and managing budgets, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Oversight over a wide array of programs to encourage alumni participation in the life of the University including homecoming, regional alumni events, the alumni travel program, alumni awards, etc.
  2. Directly manage specific alumni constituencies including any UWW alumni advisory boards created, regional alumni groups, and in conjunction with their respective advancement officers, college-based alumni efforts.
  3. Manage the Alumni Relations office, including its human and financial resources, to ensure that it is operating in an efficient manner pursuant to the University’s goals and priorities. This includes the development and maintenance of an annual budget for alumni activities.
  4. Oversee the work of one or more staff members assigned to alumni relations. Oversee the work of student employees and volunteers.
  5. Oversee the development and distribution of meeting materials relative to alumni relations for the UWW Foundation board or committees. Take an active role at these meetings.
  6. Serve as a member of the development team and take an active role in the fundraising efforts of the UW-Whitewater Foundation.
  7. Represent alumni and the Alumni Relations office on various divisional and university-wide committees and various university events.
  8. Oversee a robust effort to communicate with alumni through all forms of media.
  9. The position requires travel and commitment to work some evenings and weekends.
