Instructions for Online Syllabi

      Instructions for Online Syllabi

Instructors of every course are required to submit an updated syllabus to the library every semester (FS 945-12). As an alternative, they may submit syllabi online, though online submission is voluntary.

NOTE: UW-W faculty and instructional academic staff and designated administrative staff can upload new syllabi and manage existing ones in the Integrated Course Listing (ICL) database

The Online Syllabi application is similar to the online application that faculty and instructional academic staff use when submitting grades.

ICL allows the uploading of Portable Document Format (PDF) files only. Documents created in word-processing programs, such as Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, or .rtf or .txt files must first  be converted to PDF before they can be uploaded to the system. Videos on how to convert Microsoft Word 2007 & 2010, Word 2009 for Mac, and Apple Pages to PDF are available at the link below.

How to use the system: The Online Syllabi system is easy to use.  Go to courses.uww.edu, login using your UW-W Net-ID, and click "sign in." The toolbar on the left side of the screen allows you to navigate by term, and to upload by section or by instructor. Browse to find the file to upload; when it is found, select it by clicking on the file name, click Open, and then click the Save button. A Syllabus Details page will load with successful upload confirmation listed on top, and with all relevant information displayed in a table.  You can click on the link to the PDF file to open the file in your computer's default PDF viewer. If you upload the wrong file or upload to the incorrect section, you can use the Delete button to remove the file, and repeat the process to upload another PDF syllabus. Logout when you have completed uploading your syllabi.

Faculty and instructional staff who choose to have their syllabi available in the Library should logon to this system with your Net-ID and password. There is an option to check "Paper Copy Only" on both the Upload by Section and Upload by Instructor screens. Check this option, and a message will appear that a paper copy is available in the Library. Logout when you have completed this process.

Syllabi are accessible only to users logged in with a UW-Whitewater Net-ID, unless explicitly marked "public" by the instructor.
