ATTENTION:
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Inclusive Excellence Lecturer Program seeks applications from scholars, artists and educators who can contribute significantly to UW-Whitewater’s Inclusive Excellence initiatives. The IE Lecturer Program supports the university’s commitment to fostering greater understanding of individual, societal and group differences at every level of university life. JOB DETAILS:
UW-Whitewater will award up to four in-residence Inclusive Excellence Lecturers each academic year. The one-year academic appointments begin in August of the academic year and end in May of the following year. In some cases, Inclusive Excellence Lecturers can be extended for a second year. Inclusive Excellence Lecturers will audit the Chancellor’s Committee on Inclusive Excellence and assist in developing the campus Inclusive Excellence Forums. They will also teach four to five courses per year in their academic area and contribute to college and departmental inclusive excellence initiatives and activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
The Inclusive Excellence Lecturer Program is open to all individuals who are academic or creative professionals and who have completed a terminal degree within the last five years or who will have completed a terminal degree by August 23, 2019. “All but dissertation” candidates will be considered on a case-by-case basis; for ABD Faculty Assistants, degree completion requirements will be outlined at the time of offer. Applicants must be able to demonstrate a commitment to their academic field as well as a commitment to the principles of inclusive excellence.

  • Strong and proven commitment to Inclusive Excellence as well as a completed terminal degree by August 23, 2019.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated record of or evident potential for successful teaching, with an emphasis on promoting the success of undergraduate students.
  • Clear evidence of scholarly potential, including maintaining a strong program of research that involves mentoring undergraduate students in meaningful ways.
  • Commitment to working with diverse populations and serving as an active member of the university community.
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Each Inclusive Excellence Lecturers responsibilities will vary by the college in which they are located. However, all will teach four to five courses per year in their academic area and contribute to college and departmental inclusive excellence initiatives and activities. Each Inclusive Excellence Lecturer will serve on their respective college’s inclusive excellence committee. Each will also be paired with a mentor/scholar who will provide mentorship and support and whose role it is to facilitate opportunities for engagement with UW-Whitewater inclusive excellence initiatives both within their college and the university at large. Inclusive Excellence Lecturers will also have opportunities to work with students in the university’s Undergraduate Research Program whose research interests align with their own. Inclusive Excellence Lecturers will have access to the university’s LEARN Center, the Learning Technology Center and the Whitewater University Technology Park Innovation Center.
