Kim Kostka is a chemistry professor in the College of Integrated Studies. She works mainly with first-year students and has designed several innovative approaches for delivering chemistry instruction through online-only study-from-home labs, created courses broadcast to multiple sites at once, and online instruction. She also develops new laboratory explorations for students to enjoy and learn chemistry.
In addition, Kim is the Academic Director for the UW Flexible Option, which is the University of Wisconsin System's competency-based education program. Serving nearly 2000 students a year through ten programs offered by UW-Parkside and UW-Milwaukee, Flex programs allow students to begin their studies any month of the year, take breaks on their own schedule, and work one-on-one with faculty at the student's own pace.
