Warhawk Distinctions

From rankings to guidebooks, there is a great deal of information available to compare and contrast institutions on a wide range of factors. Below are notable rankings or distinctions which we highlight to showcase UW-Whitewater's unique mission and commitment to student success.

Colleges of Distinction

UW-Whitewater was selected as a 2018-2019 College of Distinction, and ranked as a Public College of Distinction, a Business College of Distinction and an Education College of Distinction for demonstrating continued dedication to high-impact educational practices.

U.S. News & World Report

A top-tier institution, UW-Whitewater ranked No. 61 among regional universities in the U.S. News & World Report 2018 rankings, and is one of the top 10 public colleges. UW-Whitewater consistently ranks highly in graduation and retention rates and small class sizes, which are key measures of quality and value.

Community Engagement Classification

UW-Whitewater was a recipient of the Community Engagement Classification in 2015 from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. This designation -- bestowed on only 361 colleges and universities in the United States -- honors campuses that are improving teaching and learning, producing research that makes a difference in communities, and revitalizing their civic and academic missions. Campuses that receive the community engagement classification retain it for 10 years.

Military Friendly

Selected as a Military Friendly School since 2010, UW-Whitewater is committed to supporting veterans, service-members, and their spouses.

HLC Accreditation

UW-Whitewater was re-accredited by the Higher Learning Commission during a 2015 campus visit. Accreditation is a sign of quality — a weighty stamp of approval of a university's academic programs and operations.

Warhawk Athletics

The UW-Whitewater Warhawks have much to celebrate. In 2014, UW-Whitewater made history as the first NCAA institution to win national championships in men's football, basketball, and baseball in a single year; the Gymnastics team also brought home a national championship in the same year. A leader in serving students with disabilities

UW-Whitewater is a national leader in its commitment to serving students with disabilities. For 50 years this commitment has been evident in the university's core values, and is continually fostered through efforts such as the university's Strategic Plan, sustainable funding, and institutional policies that require universal design standards campus-wide. These efforts, as well as bridging community barriers through summer camps and disability awareness programs, and employment programming to assist students with transitioning after college, have resulted in recognition for UW-W's commitment and attraction for students with disabilities nationwide.
