If you are seeking the application currently open for spring 2022, see link to the left for Higher Education Relief Grant (Spring 2022).
The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA) makes available funding for UW-Whitewater to provide emergency relief grants to students for a component of the cost of attendance or for COVID-related emergency costs, such as tuition, food, housing, health care (including mental health care) or child care.
If you meet the student eligibility criteria (described in the next section), you may be eligible for a federal Higher Education Relief Grant.
See below under the Application Process tab for application information. The submission deadline for the application is Monday, March 15, 2021.
The amount of the relief grant award will be contingent on the number of applications received by March 15, 2021 and the number of students deemed eligible for an award, including Pell Grant eligible students.
To be eligible for this grant, a 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA must be received by UW-Whitewater by Monday, March 15, 2021. If you have not completed a 2020-2021 FAFSA yet, you can still do so online at FAFSA.gov.
In an effort to meet the FAFSA requirement, ensure that you complete a 2020-2021 FAFSA, not a 2021-2022 FAFSA, if you have not completed either at this time.
No. You must meet the student eligibility requirements addressed above and apply by March 15, 2021, including submission of an error-free 2020-2021 FAFSA to UW-Whitewater.
You will receive an email at your UW-W email address by Tuesday, March 23.
No. This grant is only for students who are currently enrolled during the spring 2021 semester.
After the application closes on March 15, 2021, the UW-W Financial Aid Office will begin review. For those who do not meet eligibility criteria, a notice of ineligibility will be sent by Tuesday, March 23 to the student at their UW-W email address. By March 23, an award to eligible students will be made in WINS. When the award is made, an approval notification will be sent to the student at their UW-W email address.
For students who receive an award, the relief grant will be reflected on your WINS student account by the morning of Thursday, March 25. The UW-W Cashier’s Office will process your refund within 5-7 business days of the funds crediting your WINS account. To receive the refund faster, sign up for electronic deposit of refunds if you have not done so.
